Day 1B of Event 1 is in the books and after 17 levels of play it’s Joseph Fermane leading the way with a stack of 448,500. Fermane is the only player who managed to put more than 400,000 in the bag and only one player, Gilberto Taveras managed to bag over 300,000.

Alex Barlow was able to double his stack on the very last hand of the night and shot to the top of the chip counts. Also among the Day 1B survivors is BorgataPoker.com online qualifier Kenny Lay who put 118,000 in the bag.

We are down to just three tables here on Day 1B in Event 1 of The Borgata Fall Poker Open. There is less than two levels of play left in the night before the players bag and tag their chips. Dan Dizenzo is certainly one of the most experience players remaining with over $768,000 in live career tournamanent earnings.

Dizenzo is also quite the force online as he has earned over $728,000 on the virtual felt. He is still in the hunt playing a healthy stack of close to 100,000 and will look to finish strong as we near the end of our second flight.

There is already about 30,000 in the main pot on a flop of {as}{3h}{4d} and Hovig Dekermenjian moves all in for 45,700. His opponent makes the call and Dekermenjian turns over {3d}{3c} for a flopped set of threes.

“I was right you didn’t have the ace” jokes his opponent as he turns over {6d}{6c}. The turn {4s} improves Dekermenjian to a full house and he will need to avoid only a river six. The {qh} hits the river and Dekermenjian’s full house earns him the pot and the double up.

Terry Grimes raises to 6,500 from under the gun and Dawn Wilensky calls from middle position. Victor Abbate calls from late position and they go three handed to the {7s}{2h}{6d} flop. All three players check and the dealer burns and turns the {2c}.

Grimes moves all in for his last 36,300 and Wilensky folds. Abbate makes the call and Grimes says “good call” as he turns over {as}{jh} for just ace high. Abbate shows {5h}{5s} and will need to fade the river to eliminate Grimes. The {8s} completes the board earning Abbate the pot and the elimination.

Gilberto Taveras limps in from the under the gun and the action folds to a player in late position who moves all in for 13,000. The rest of the table gets out of the way, Taveras makes the call and the hands are revealed.

The field is beginning to thin down and as the tables continue to break it looks as though the three biggest stacks in the room are now all at the same table.
